The first requirement when creating new tools is to be able to compare them in a rational way. Here is a list of all the identified characteristics grouped around four common areas.

The four areas (Risk, Ease, Experience and Impact) were then used to assess and compare a series of existing projects that are relevant to activism. This first comparison gave two valuable insights. It allowed comparing tools in their potential rather than in their physical executions. It also meant that the key characteristics could be used to define the requirements for a new tool, based on the activist appreciation of the context.
